In Response to the Boston Society of Architect’s Final Prompt Titled “Pardon Our Appearance”
[Re]Framed Landscape was a final response to the 2024 Rotch Travel Fellowship, the oldest annual design competition in the United States, founded in 1883. The 2024 theme, “Pardon Our Appearance,” challenged societal perception and design context surrounding maintenance, calling for reimagining the Boston Public Works facility into a community forum.
The following proposal teeters between current time and 2070 - a speculative narrative after a record-breaking storm surge. Throughout these timelines, one meanders along an urban boardwalk woven throughout the BPW site and follows a series of architectural “characters” [volumes] that [Re]Frame the current context while fostering space for a more equitable, sustainable, and engaging future.
